THOMAS 3rd General Assembly Meeting at LMS

Following the 2nd Integration Workshop, the entire consortium was gathered at LMS in Patras (Greece) to attend the project’s 3rd General Assembly meeting. Reaching at the end of M18 of the project (individual technologies prototypes milestone), the technical partners presented the prototype implementations deployed under each technical WP as well as the performed integration activities which have already started. 5th Workshop on Hybrid Production Systems – ERF 2018

THOMAS EU project will participate in the 5th Workshop on Hybrid Production Systems at ERF 2018. LMS, representing the project, will discuss the concept of flexible manipulation using mobile dual arm workers. The presentation will focus on the implementation of industrial assembly scenarios involving the use of mobile and stationary dual arm robots. Emphasis will be given on the reconfiguration aspects provided by such robotic equipment and the integration of Human Robot Interaction techniques to achieve higher flexibility.

THOMAS 1st Review Meeting in Spain

On the 12th and 13th of April, THOMAS consortium came together with the Project Officer (P.O.), Dr. Jan Ramboer, and project’s technical advisor in Spain for the project’s first review meeting. THOMAS Industrial Investigation @ AERNNOVA

THOMAS Mobile Robot Platform (MRP) went to AERNNOVA shopfloor on the 13th of April in Alava. Already at this stage of the project, THOMAS partners joined forces in order to facilitate the project’s first on-site demonstrator. In particular, the MRP performed a mock up drilling process on AERNNOVA’s actual aeronautics structures integrating THOMAS skill based robot behavior and object detection and localization modules. AERNNOVA’s production managers and operators welcomed THOMAS demonstrator identified that this concept may bring to AERNNOVA’s production.

Human Robot Collaboration session – 7th CIRP Conference on Assembly Technologies and Systems (CATS 2018)

7th CIRP Conference on Assembly Technologies and Systems (CATS 2018) Tianjin, China + Google Map

On 10th of May 2018, THOMAS EU project traveled to Tianjin, China for the 7th CIRP Conference on Assembly Technologies and Systems (CATS 2018). During the last day of this 3day event (10th to 12 of May 2018), an application for wearable devices in Human Robot Collaborative assembly tasks of THOMAS project was presented by LMS. In this session, THOMAS project gained a positive feedback from research audience.

Workshop on Human Robot Collaboration – 51st CIRP Conference on Manufacturing Systems (CMS 2018)

THOMAS EU project participated on the 51st CIRP Conference on Manufacturing Systems (CMS 2018)  that took place in Stockholm, Sweden from the 16th to the 18th of May 2018. LMS presented the project's main concept by introducing THOMAS future assembly systems paradigm by analyzing project's automotive pilot case. THOMAS was one of the EU projects represented on the special Workshop of Human Robot Collaboration getting positive feedback from research as well as industrial audience.

2nd LMS Open Robotics Day in Patras, Greece

On 22nd of May 2018 the second LMS Open Robotics Day event took place at LMS premises in Patras, Greece in order to help young researchers understand the robotic system's applicability in manufacturing. LMS as a member of THOMAS EU project's consortium presented some of the developed technologies so far. Young researchers were very impressed by project's dual mobility and digital modelling concept.

BIEMH 2018 in Bilbao Exhibition Centre, Spain

Automatica 2018 in Munich, Germany

Workshop on IoT and Industrial Robotics for human operator support: case studies and challenges at IEEE ETFA 2018 in Torino, Italy

On 4th of September 2018 LMS was in Torino, Italy organizing a workshop on IoT and Industrial Robotics for human operator support: case studies and challenges in terms of IEEE ETFA 2018 conference. As a member of THOMAS EU project's consortium, LMS presented project's main concept. Representatives from both the academy and industry were there exchanging knowledge and past experience.
